BMSC 5320 - Graduate Pharmacology


1 credit hour

This course will provide the student with a basic overall understanding of the discipline of pharmacology at a level that will allow the student to apply pharmacological principles to their independent research project. The course will also provide an overall perspective of pharmacology emphasizing the basic principles of pharmacology. Specific categories of drugs will be presented and discussed based on the basic mechanism of action of the drug group. Specific drug classes to be discussed include those with an action on the autonomic and central nervous systems and the cardiovascular system. Prerequisites: Biochemistry I and II, and Physiology I and II.
