PT 818 - Professional Practice

3 credit hours

This course begins with a study of the history of the physical therapy profession and the American Physical Therapy Association. The course also includes information on the elements of Vision 2020 including: Doctor of Physical Therapy, Professionalism, Autonomy, Direct Access, Evidence-Based Practice, and Practitioner of Choice. Other topics in this course include: The Five Roles of The Physical Therapist; Ethics; Professional Development, Competence, and Expertise; Patient-Centered Care; and Social Justice Issues. Prerequisite: HP800 Medical Informatics or HP 805 - tDPT Foundations.
