MSBS 5550 - Genetics

3 credit hours

This course will cover medical genetics in the areas of inheritance patterns, including aspects of population genetics and probability. The course will emphasize subjects of medical interest such as genetic and metabolic disorders, including cytogenetic disorders and genetic testing. Human embryology from fertilization through the development of the major organ systems will also be covered. Emphasis will be on the developmental basis of the structures seen in anatomy, as well as the clinical significance of developmental abnormalities.
