MIND 6003 - Human Mind and Behavior

14 credit hours

The Human Mind & Behavior course integrates the basic and clinical sciences associated with the human mind, development and behaviors, and builds upon the exploration of the brain-behavior relationship. A major emphasis is placed on using clinical presentations to discover the relationships among anatomy, embryology, physiology, microbiology, immunology, biochemistry, genetics, pharmacology and pathology. Clinical topics related to brain and behavior such as mental dysfunctions and disruptions, developmental delays, abuse, death, dying and bereavement, and advanced neurology topics are included in this course.

Reading assignments, webcast presentations and small group exercises allow students to examine basic science concepts of the mind and behavior from a clinical viewpoint. Material presented in Medical Skills and Osteopathic Principles and Practice augment this learning with physical diagnosis and osteopathic manipulative treatment skill development.
